Elder Givens accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in March of 1984. In April of 1985, Elder Givens was assigned to Karlsruhe Germany, where he became a member of Center of Deliverance COGIC.

In December of 1987, Elder Givens accepted his call into the ministry and four months later he became the Pastor of Center of Deliverance COGIC. In August of 1990 he was ordained as an Elder by Bishop Carlis L. Moody Sr. Jurisdictional Prelate of the Germany Jurisdiction. In January 1998 he became the interim Pastor of New Frazier Temple COGIC and was appointed Pastor in March of 1998 by Bishop Mark Walden, Jurisdictional Prelate of Northern GA II Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. Elder Givens serves as the Chairman of the Elders Council of the Northern Ga. II Jurisdiction.

Elder Givens is married to Evangelist DeVonne Givens of Chicago, IL. They were married June 7, 1986 and to this union they are the proud parents of JoLondon Shanette and Charles Jr.  Elder Givens retired from the Military in February 2001. Elder Givens is employed as an Educator by the Richmond County Board of Education.
